In 1992 a young diver and a friend were shore snorkeling around the”Morro do Boi” (a small mount by the Atlantic Ocean in Matinhos-PR-Brazil) when he saw something shinning at the bottom of the sea. It was a metal mask attached to a piece of rotten wood who had shattered when he tried to grab it.
Photographs of the mask were sent to experts with no reply. In 2002 one of the photos of the mask appeared on the cover of a book called “Peabiru – Os Incas no Brasil, by Luiz Galdino”(1) linking the mask with a theory about Europeans visiting south Brazil around year 1000 a.D.
